With this new fine dust sensor, Sensirion expands its range of environmental sensor solutions, opening new dimensions for indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring applications.
The SPS30 fine dust sensor (PM) represents a technological breakthrough in optical PM sensors. The measurement principle is based on laser scattering and utilizes Sensirion's innovative pollution-resistant technology. This technology, combined with high-quality and durable components, allows for accurate measurements from the first operation throughout its entire lifespan of more than eight years.
PM2.5 and PM10 refer to categories of fine dust with particle sizes up to 2.5 and 10 micrometers, respectively. Fine dust is among the most hazardous pollutants for the human body. Due to their small size, particles can penetrate deep into the lungs, causing respiratory diseases such as bronchitis or asthma over time and contributing to cardiovascular diseases. With Sensirion's PM2.5 sensor, manufacturers of air quality monitoring devices can offer innovative devices for measuring air quality, helping prevent long-term health damage caused by air pollution.
